Land Rover V8 engines rely on the correct fuel to air ratio and ignition timing combined with a strong spark. If this is incorrect then you have a loss of power, incorrect emmisions and possibly a misfire and hesitation at high engine loads.
A good distributor cap is especially important to ensure a strong spark in Range Rovers that have been converted to LPG as this type of fuel depends on the correct ignition firing.
